Two Names
Foreshadowed Down Through History
Many of our patriarchs/matriarchs were known by a worldly name though they had a given Hebrew name. This was done to protect their identity until a time given in some instances such as with Esther who was really Hadassah.
We see that Daniel and Joseph and Moses were given worldly names for a season! They are each still the same person, but to fulfill their calling during certain seasons they were known by a symbolic or given name.
Moses is not even a Hebrew name, nor his given name according Jasher 68 & Leviticus Rabbah 1:2! Yet it is how we know him! His given name means My Yah Is Good or Good From Yah- TOVIAH a name his mother called him!
Saul became Paul, Jacob became Israel, Abram became Abraham, Sarai became Sarah- these people were the same, but had name changes to show their acceptance of a new undersatnding of YHWH's covenant with them.
Our Messiah also has been known as Jesus from the worldly standpoint, but has the Hebrew given name of Yeshua.
Even His Hebrew given name is understood in variations (Y'shua, Yeshua, Yahshua, Yahusha, Yahushuwa, Yhwhshua).
Let us not condemn one another for not being perfect in linguistics for we are but children in learning and eagerly desiring to honor our Father as He makes us able and lovingly imparts to us in His season the understanding.
As a mother while my children were learning to speak, I understood what they were saying though they didn't speak with perfect diction or grammar.
In Hebrew the word for name is SHEM
and it means precisely
the CHARACTER of a person.
What we must realize is that we do have agreement on one foundational principle- that we love the One Whom we study about in the Scriptures-
the One Whose
WORDS BURN WITHIN OUR HEARTS-
THE ANOINTED ONE,
THE MESSIAH OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS!
HIS UNBLEMISHED CHARACTER,
HIS PRESENCE IS WHO HE IS!
