LAW COVENANT OBEDIENCE GRACE
"And I prayed unto YHWH my Elohim, and made my confession, and said, O YHWH, the great and dreadful Elohay (Awesome God), keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments." (Daniyel, Daniel 9:4)
Daniel's prayer struck me. He prayed as we ought also to pray. Daniel lived uprightly, yet he included himself when praying for all his brothers. And here he declares whom the Father keeps covenant with. He keeps a covenant with those who love Him and keep commandments. Abba is unchanging. He is the same today as He was yesterday and that He will be tomorrow. He wants us to love Him and keep his commandments written in His Word called the Torah - the same Scriptures that Messiah lived by.
We show our belief through obedience. In essence, BELIEF = OBEDIENCE.
Without the law we would have nothing to obey and thereby no guidance.
(Romiyim, Romans 3:19) says we are all under the law that we may be aware of sin. Then in verse 31 we are asked, "Do we nullify the law by faith?- NO, WE UPHOLD IT!"
Romayim is written to the believing Jews AND gentiles and guess what they are ALL called to do? In 2:13 they are told that the DOERS of the LAW will be justified!
(Romayim, Hoshea, Hosea, Yeshayahu, Isaiah) say He will call us His people who are not His people and her beloved which was not beloved.
The works that He did we will do also. “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do” (Yochanan 14:12)
(Ma'aseh, Acts 15:21) says that the Gentiles are expected to learn the rest of the law on the Sabbath Day in the synagogue.
We show our belief by obeying the command to honor the Sabbath, to keep it holy. (Tehillim, Psalms 119 & Romayim 6:20-23) The commandment is a lamp unto our feet & the law a light unto our path.
Yahshua said His yoke is easy and His burden is light. (Mattityahu 11:30) What is His yoke and what is His burden? THERE IS A YOKE AND A BURDEN FOR US TO BEAR. What is it? It is His commandment, His Word, His law.
Repeatedly Yahshua said in Yochanan 14, 15 that if we love Him we will keep His commandments. He said that He only speaks that which He has heard His Father YHWH speak.
Do we keep the Ten Commandments? Do we tithe and give offerings? Do we love Abba first and our neighbor also? If so, then we are under the law! If we are keeping the Ten Commandments then we have begun to guard and fulfill the law. All the commandments are based on love for YHWH and our fellow man. One of the Ten Commandments is about honoring the Sabbath. Only one day of the week in Scripture is consistently referred to as the Sabbath day - the 7th day of the week!
"YHWH keeps covenant & mercy for those who love & keep His commands." (Nehemyah 1:5)
Paul believes and relies upon the Law. (Ma'aseh 24:14; 26:22; 28:23) Believes = faith accompanied by works. “Obey the Law.” (Kepha 2 1:9)
“THE WORD OF YHWH ENDURES FOREVER.” (Kepha 1, 1 Peter 2:23-25)
Who is our example about the 7th day SABBATH REST? YHWH our Creator modeled it from the first week of creation. (Ibrim, Hebrews 4) Ya'aqob, James 2:17,18 says we show faith by works.
But we must observe YHWH's law WITH LOVE. YHWH sent His Son Yahshua the Messiah to show us that. Hazon, Revelation 12:17 & Faith shown by works of obedience unto LOVE - not by vain works. (Galatiyim, Galations 3) Without love whatever we do no matter how good it looks means nothing. (Qorin'tiyim 1, 1 Corinthians 13)
Paul kept Shavuot because it is written in the Tanach – ‘Old Testament’. (Ma'aseh 20:6, 16 & 21:17)
According to Yirmeyahu, Jeremiah 6:16; 50:4-7 & Mattithyahu 11:29 we find rest for our souls by observing YHWH's commands & appointed days. No rest for the shepherds who have led sheep astray by not following YHWH's commands.
If we love YHWH we keep His commands. (1Yochanan 5:2-4, 3:22-24)
Paul told Timothy that the Holy Scriptures are able to make wise unto salvation through faith in Yahshua. (2Timotiyos, 2 Timothy 3:15) LIVE BY EVERY WORD OF YHWH and Yahshua said to SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES (Luqas, Luke 4:4) The Scriptures referred to are not what we call the New Testament which is better referred to as the RENEWED COVENANT. But rather YahShua Referred to the Tanach- the Torah, Prophets, Psalms and writings. (Yochanan 5:39)
May we be as stated in (Yeshayahu, Isaiah 58:12) 'RESTORER OF PATHS TO DWELL IN'.
“The law and commandments are HOLY JUST AND GOOD”! (Romayim 7:12)
'My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge...thou hast forgotten the LAW of thy Elohim (God)'. (Hoshea 4:6)
'we make no difference between the holy and profane- we hide our eyes from YHWH's Sabbaths'. Let this not be said of us! (Yehezquel, Ezekial 22:26)
'The LAW IS Spiritual' and we can only worship HIM in Spirit & in Truth! (Romayim 7:12, 14; 8:4)
The Torah was memorized and written on the heart of every young man by 13 years old. May we do the same. It is not too late to hide His WORD IN OUR HEARTS!
Messiah said when speaking to the Pharisees that they ought to have done the law but not leave the weightier matters of the law undone which are love and mercy. (Mattithyahu 23:24)
There are different laws - this is imperative that we understand. We are set free from the law of sin and death! Amen, HalleluYAH! We are made alive unto the law of life of the spirit in YAHSHUA the perfect law of liberty. (Romayim 8:2) And remember the law is spiritual!
Romayim 6 is about being under grace- being able to ask forgiveness. It is not about YHWH's commandments coming to an end.
I had a dream wherein I was asked, “Do you know the difference between you and your neighbor? The difference is that you are able to ask for forgiveness because you have accepted my work on the cross, but they can’t because they haven’t accepted what I have done for them.” At that point I realized what a sorry state for someone to be in if they haven’t accepted the forgiveness offered to them.
We are to fulfill the law of Messiah. (Galatiyim 6:2)
FAITH is shown by obeying YHWH's commands. (Romayim 16:25, 26)
TORAH IS GRACE.
““Do we then make void the law through faith? No, we establish the law. Abraham had faith first and then showed his faith by obedience.” (Romayim 3:31; 4:11)
"Love YHWH with all our heart, soul, and might and keep the WORD in our heart as a sign on your hand and between your eyes and it shall be for your righteousness if you observe these commands before YHWH as He commanded you." (Bemidbar, Deuteronomy 6)
Then, Dani'el 9 quoted (Bemidbar 7) "YHWH keeps covenant and mercy with those who love Him and keep His commands to a thousand generations." A thousand generations haven't passed!
Without the law there is lawlessness.
(1Yochanan 3:4) defines sin as lawlessness. Would you rather live with the law - guidelines, teaching, instruction to show our faith through obedience or with lawlessness - being void of instruction or a way to show our faith in YHWH. His whole WORD is the LAW.
Find where it speaks of lawlessness in the Bible. Tas'loniqim 2, 2 Thessalonians 3 equates disorder as lawlessness and we are told to withdraw from disorder.
The purpose of the commandment is LOVE FROM A PURE HEART therefore we should not want to do away with YHWH's commandments. Verse 8 says that we know that the law is good.
LAW = GOOD (1Timotiyos 1:5)
"This is the love of YHWH that we keep His commandments." (1Yochanan 5:2,3)
"Walk in the commandment from the beginning." (2Yochanan 1:5,6)
We want to be called children of obedience, not disobedience. "Walk orderly and keep the law." (Ma'aseh, Acts 21:24)
"He that loves another fulfills the law." (Romayim 13:8) We are to fulfill the law as Yahshua fulfilled it. Fulfill means to make full or establish.
The righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us who walk not after the flesh, but after the spirit and remember the law is spiritual. (Romayim 8:4)
"Yahshua said depart from me you workers of iniquity (lawlessness)." (Mattityahu 7:23)
May we be YHWH's LAW-ABIDING CITIZENS showing ourselves to be set apart unto Him, Holy and clothed in the Righteousness of Yahshua, properly guarding His commands from pure hearts of LOVE as did Yahshua whom the Father sent to show us how to do so.
With Great Love and Shalom, Leslie Ann
