V1 We once sailed for beauty’s lure, Thought skin deep was the cure. Felt lost, adrift, our souls worn thin, Till God’s truth brought us home again.
Ref Oh, modest is hottest, hear our cry, Clothed in virtue, we’ll sail to the sky! Steer for the King, with hearts held high, Build His kingdom, the trumpet is nigh!
Ch Heave, ho, and hoist the sail, Modesty’s our mighty gale! With God’s grace, we’ll never fail, His righteous crew, we’ll blaze the trail!
V2 They shout, “Flaunt it all, let eyes roam free!” But that course leaves the soul at sea. Fame’s a mist, pride’s a fleeting wave, God’s faithful heart keeps our spirits brave. Ref
V3 “Show off!” they cry, “That’s power, that’s might!” But their chains bind tight in the worldly night. Their gaze clouds the soul, the charts don’t lie, YAHWEH’s truth we’ll sing to the sky! Ref
